Meena is Unicef's symbol of the girl child

From South Asia, little Meena is set to travel the globe as an ambassador for Unicef, the UN Children's Fund. This girl from the world of animation is taking up the task of building awareness about the status of the girl child.Meena - a lively heroine of a Unicef multi-media package - is part of an initiative in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. This effort aims to build concern over the need to improve the lives of girls and give them an equal chance in a region where many girls have little or no access to healthcare and education.She's the main character of an animated film series featuring her life in a village with her parents, brother Raju, sister Rani and pet parrot Mithu.
