A conference on how to evict encroachments from forests was organised at Van Vigyan Bhavan in R K Pura. Participants included government officials and representatives from NGOs and donor agencies. Forests and being destroyed and illegally used for construction and cultivation, it was pointed out. The agenda of the conference was to formulate people-friendly guidelines against encroachments. Rehabilitation of encroaches on non-forest land was also discussed.
