Meghalaya literacy rate touches 62%

If the estimates of the 52nd round of the National Sample Survey, 1995-56, are to be believed, there is every reason for the people of Meghalaya to rejoice as its literacy rate now stands at a creditable 62 per cent. Accordign to the survey, the urban literacy rate was 64 per cent while that in the rural areas stood at 59 per cent.
