Meghalaya Speaker E D Marak landed himself in a controversy over the illegal tree felling from the State reserve forest at Adokgre, East Garo Hills, even as the Supreme Court ordered blanket ban on the logging work. The local Garo Students Union unit of his constituency, Kharkutta, alleged that the Speaker's men had felled over 30 trees from the reserve forest, while building a footbridge in his area.
