Meghalaya to implement joint forest management project

The Meghalaya forest department, with funds from the Central government will soon be implementing a Joint Forest Management Project in the state and many villages in Garo Hills are expected to benefit from the scheme. The project will lay emphasis on watershed and the community will be able to play a more contructive role in not only preserving their environment but will also be able to earn revenue from its returns.
