2 Found Dead On Pavements In Jaipur
Jaipur: Shivering cold conditions aggravated on Thursday with nearly 80% of the state reeling under the grip of a severe cold wave. Except Hadauti region, most places witnessed its maximum and minimum temperatures below the normal notch. Fatehpur in Sikar remained the coldest place in the state which recorded a minimum temperature of -5.8 degree Celsius, Met report said.
The Pink City saw the coldest day of the season so far as the minimum temperature recorded at 5.30 am at Jaipur Met office was 2.8 degrees Celsius. It was 5 degrees below the normal minimum. Due to the bone chilling-weather, two beggars were found dead in the city.
According to the police, these beggars, who used to spend the night on footpath, were found dead at Jalupura and Subash Chowk localities on Thursday morning. Even in the afternoon, despite a sunny day there was no respite from shivering cold as the city experienced a minimum temperature of 21.3 degree Celsius. Since there was not much fog and mist were there during early morning hours, air, road and rail traffic remained smooth. There was, however, some problems at Jaipur-Agra highway from Mahuwa onwards due to early morning fog and mist where bus, truck, car and bike drivers were compelled to curtail their speed due to poor visibility. The roads gave an empty look during early morning hours while during the day markets such as Tibetan Market witnessed an increase in footfall. In the evening, Walled City markets and nearby areas witnessed a heavy rush at the shops selling Kulhard Milk and other hot beverages.
Fatehpur was followed by Churu where a minimum temperature of -1.6 degrees Celsius was recorded, Pilani 1.3, Sriganganagar 1.9, Bikaner 2, Barmer 4.4, Jaisalmer 5, Jodhpur 6, Ajmer 7, Udaipur 8.2, Chittorgarh 8.8 and Kota recorded a minimum temperature of 12 degrees Celsius.
In its forecast, the Jaipur Met office said the mercury will further dip in the northern and eastern parts of the state in the next two days. There is no possibility of fog and mist in these regions.
