Metro Phase 2: A breeze of fresh air with lots of welcome returns

If you think the second phase of Delhi Metro is just another face of relief, the studies on Phase II reveal that it has lot more to it than what meets the tracks. According to the studies, Phase II will mean cleaner air for Delhi, reduction of 610 buses on city roads, 30% fall in road accidents and a huge financial and social cost of returns. In other words, Delhi will be able to save fuel worth crores and decongest its roads in the next five years. According to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's estimates, the second phase of Metro will mean a saving of Rs 324 crore with fewer private vehicles on the roads. About 610 buses will be off the roads
