Pelicans and painted storks have been found dead in Hemmanahalli lake near here under mysterious circumstances. Over 25 painted storks which had come here in search of food from Kokkarebellur bird sanctuary, died under mysterious circumstances. The reason behind the death of these birds is not ascertained. "Every year hundreds of birds come to the lake from Kokkarebellur bird sanctuary. This year, the death of these birds has been frequent at least for the past 10 days. Whether these are birds have died due to some disease or because of coming in contact with a live wire is not known,' say the villagers here. Chowdeshwari Trust Secretary Chandrashekhar has urged the Forest Department to find the reason behind the death of these birds and also to further further incidents.
