The cabinet in Thailand approved an Agriculture Ministry proposal yesterday to allow mining on seven plots in a national park and forest reserves for 10 years. In granting its approval, the cabinet pointed out that the approval was not for new mining concessions. It said the companies and individuals who applied for permits to use forest land has previously been granted mining concessions from the Industry Ministry.
