As a first step towards meeting its international environmental obligations, the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MEF) banned setting up of fresh capacity to manufacture aerosols products using ozone depleting substances (ODS). Aerosols use ODS such as Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) as propellants to spray chemicals or fragrances. The ministry will soon bring out further legislation banning establishement of any new industrial units using ODS.
