The North District Administration has flagged down cruise boat operations along River Mandovi for alleged noise pollution and has curtailed use of sound permits to a weekly basis. Additional Collector Swapnil Naik disclosed that a monitoring station is being set up near Miramar where sound decibels would be checked and erring operators intercepted for violations. While Naik said that the action initiated has shown results, he opined that the monitoring being carried out by the Goa State Pollution Control Board would bring further improvement in reducing noise levels. It is learnt that the administration took stern action against the noise menace and had curtailed the same to even three days a week in a bid to discipline and streamline the operators.
