Misappropriations in Harangi canal works alleged

Kushalnagar: Kudige Rameshwara Niravari Balakedarara Sahakara Sangha has alleged large scale misappropriations in the repair works of the main canal of Harangi irrigation project. Addressing a news conference, Sangha President I S Ganesh said that the repair works which were taken up recently are of substandard quality and said that the engineers and contractors responsible for such misappropriations must be punished. They said that the matter has been brought to the notice of MLA M P Appachuranjan and senior officials too. Mr L Narayan of the Sangha said that a complaint has been filed with the Lokayukta too demanding for probe into the matter. "The cement concrete lining that has been done at the canal is of poor quality and due to the poor quality of the canal, the construction taken up recently too have been damaged,' he added. He further demanded that the water must be released from the dam to the region as the rains in the region has depleted. Sangha Director H T Kumar, Secretary K D Manjappa, Torenoor Sangha Director T G Shivanna were present.
