Mission Go Green India launched

Pune, July 21 Realising the imperative responsibility of safeguarding the nature, the defence personnel of Aundh military camp launched Mission Go Green India on June 19. Apart from defence perssonel, the initiative also got support from students, PCMC officials, personnel from NGO Pune Tree Watch Group, Art of Living as well as corporate companies like Saama Technologies and Eaton and general public of the locality. Some of the trees are being donated by these companies and individuals. The plantation drive was inaugurated by one of the veterans Maj Gen (Retd)HK Kapoor by planting the first sapling. As part of this drive a total of 1150 trees including fruit bearing trees, shady trees , ornamental and herbal trees were planted. Speaking on the occasion, the participants of the mission assured that this plantation drive will continue over the next few days and extend to each and every house hold of Aundh Militaty Camp. This drive will not only help to create a lush green camp area with numerous tree but will also have a constructive consequences on the area surrounding the station. We sincerely hope that this effort by the men in uniform paves a new path for moving towards a clean green environment and inspires others to follow suit, said a press release. Appreciating the unparallel significance of this recompense of nature to us Its the duty of each and every human being on this earth who claims even the morsel of invaluable oxygen from the bounty of nature to pay it back, said the release. Last year Aundh Military Camp along with PCMC and Pune Tree watch group has planted over 12,000 trees in the same area. This year also they are planning to have massive plantation drive along with soil and water conservation. This will not only stop soil erosion but also increase the ground water level. Involvement of Army, Pune Tree Watch, PCMC ,corporate companies, individuals, Army personnel families and spiritual organizations will take this mission to success. Brig Patyal (Sena Medal),Col Grewal and PTW member Sachin Walunj were present during the occassion.
