Mission to help poor urban people soon, says Minister

The Central Government will shortly launch the much talked about Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewable Mission (NURM) at a cost of Rs. 50,000 crores to provide basic amenities to the poor urban people. It will also introduce a Priyadarshni Yojana to provide employment to women in tourism sector, the Union Minister of State for Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation, Selja, said in Panchkula near here on Monday while inaugurating a regional workshop on Urban Poverty Alleviation. She said the NURM would provide basic amenities like safe drinking water, education, housing facility and social security to the people living below the poverty line.
