Illegal sand quarrying, cutting of vegetation and cleaning of vehicles have eaten into some of the reserve forests located on the outer periphery of the city. Such incidents are wreaking havoc on the existing greenery and environment, naturalists feel. The Nanmangalam reserve forest is located seven kilometres away from Velachery on the Tambaram road.
