MLAs to raise questions on irrigation works

Nellore, Feb. 14: Nellore rural legislator, Mr Anam Vivekananda Reddy, is all set to raise the issue of largescale irregularities in various ongoing irrigation works in PSR Nellore district in the Assembly sessions beginning on Monday.
Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, he said that he along with five other likeminded legislators had submitted 100 questions pertaining to various subjects. He expressed confidence in many of these figuring in the ensuing session.
Among others, the legislator sought information on the status of recovery from the contractors who had executed works of the Som-asila Kandaleru flood flow canal. He was referring to the vigilance report on substandard works and its recommendation for recovery.
Expressing doubts over the quality of lining works of the Kandaleru left canal and SKFF canal awarded to a Chinese company, JCGG, Mr Vivekananda Reddy sought to know the status of works, suspecting the role of three big contractors behind the execution of works.
According to the legislator, he had raised questions on proposed Krishi Vignana Kendram in Nellore, action on spurious fertilisers, status of distribution of scholarships to different categories of students, the condition of elementary schools and proposals pertaining to a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Nellore and new school buildings.
He had also posed questions on red sander smuggling in the Venkatagiri region, hi-tech prostitution in some areas, increasing number of crimes and police failure in detecting crimes.
Mr Vivekananda Reddy sought information on funds allotted for renovation of the temple in Mantralayam.
