Daily News Analysis (Mumbai)
One of the many projects of Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) is of building thousands of toilet blocks across Mumbai Metropolitan Region. However, the condition of the toilets in its own backyard seems to be very poor.
The MMRDA headquarters in Bandra-Kurla Complex has two wings - one of six floors and the other of eight. For almost 400 employees working in the building, there are only 29 toilets (approximately one toilet for 13 employees). Each floor has one toilet each for male as well as female employees. Since the authority has a number of projects involving affected persons, the number of visitors coming to the building regularly is in a few thousands. All these visitors also use the toilets.
Most of the employees complain that the toilets are not clean enough. Some of the officers too are not happy about maintenance of the toilets.
