The Association of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (AIAM) has maintained that world-wide, modern diesel engines were proven to be as environment-friendly as contemporary petrol engines, meeting the same stringent emissions. Mr. V. M. Rava, the AIAM president said at a press conference that a holistic approach to the problem of emission was required, as emission was dependent not only on the fuel but also other factors such as maintenance, and traffic management.
