More King Longs in BEST fleet soon

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has decided to increase the number of Chinese-made King Long buses. The fleet which was introduced last year has gained popularity among commuters, according to the undertaking. Currently lying before the BEST committee, the proposal states that the 50 buses with air suspension would be procured at a cost of around Rs 30 crore from JCBL Ltd, which fabricates and markets such luxury buses under the brand name of King Long. The undertaking currently has 19 such air conditioned buses which are being operated on the dedicated bus lanes along the Western and Eastern Express Highways. BEST General Manager Uttam Khobragade said Mumbaiites deserve buses of a better standard than the undertaking's existing air conditioned buses. "This service is in demand, and I get letters of appreciation, requests to increase their frequency, etc. That's why it was decided to procure more of these buses for Mumbai's commuters.
