There is good news in store for the lovers of wildlife and nature. Soon the wildlife sanctuaries of Kota, Darrah, Ramgarh, Bundi and Kubhalgarh will be improved and developed in the pattern of Ranthambhore National Park and the Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of State Wildlife Advisory Board held on Wednesday. The chief minister Ashok Gehlot, who is ex-officio chairman of the board, presided over the meeting.
Some forest officials who attended this meeting told DNA that Gehlot, while appreciating the efforts of the forest department in connection with the conservation of forests and wildlife, asked them to improve the wildlife sanctuaries of Kota, Darrah, Ramgarh, Bundi and Kumbhalgarh and develop them in the pattern of Ranthambhore and Sariska National parks. Notably, these wildlife sanctuaries are not as popular as Ranthambhore and Sariska.
The forest officials said that the chief minister asked the forest department to work for improving and developing these wildlife sanctuaries. However, the officials said that no time frame has been fixed for improving these wildlife sanctuaries.
The members of the board showed concern over the number of vehicular accidents in the wildlife sanctuaries and the loss of lives of animals therein. The meeting discussed the suggestions on how these accidents could be reduced, said forest officials. Discussions were also held on the non-forest activities.
