With not much time left for the Commonwealth Games 2010, the crucial Games Village project which is especially being built for the event has just seen four per cent completion so far. The fact has been revealed in the Delhi government's report submitted to the Assembly on Tuesday. The government, in its report, acknowledged that the most of its projects in the pipeline for the Games are far from the completion. Though the report claims they will be completed before the deadline. The upgradation work of Talkatora Stadium and Shivaji Stadium, which are important venues for the Games, have seen a mere seven per cent completion so far. The government will spend a total of Rs 1,352 crores on the entire Commonwealth Games projects. The proposal hospital at the Games Village is still in the pipeline. According to the report, the DDA is yet to construct the hospital building, as it is still deciding upon a suitable site for it. However, the report claims that the hospital would be completed by 2009. The hospital at the Games Village is one of the most significant projects, as it will exclusively cater the medical facilities to all the athletes during the event. The other assignments for the Games include construction of two bypass at Masoodpur and Mahipalpur, of which the feasibility report is being studied by the officials. The construction of these bypasses would kick off after the feasibility reports get green signal. Many projects are still stuck at the stage of tender allotment. The task to improve the surroundings of Old Delhi and New Delhi Railway Station and bus stand has yet not begun as the tenders are still under preparation. Similarly, the construction of water treatment plant at the Games Village is waiting for the preparation of tender documents. The Delhi government has undertaken the work of renovating the Tyagraj Stadium and Talkatora stadium, whereas refurbishing of Siri Fort Sports Complex and Yamuna Sports Complex will be done by the DDA.
