Moving away from a nomadic life

The Kawardha district administration's in Chhattisgarh efforts to encourage the Baigas to run piggeries has become quite popular among tribals. Fond of breeding and eating pigs, the nomadic Baiga community feels at home in this profession. "Not only will this give them a steady income but also help them live a settled life," says the local MLA, Mr. Yogeshwar Raj Singh who initiated several Baiga families into adopting this profession.
