Madhya Pradesh is at the first place in the country in implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).As per the state-wise details of the progress of PMGSY, available on the webstie of the Union Ministry of Rural Development, as on May 2003 Madhya Pradesh has executed road works worth Rs. 498 crore which is the highest in the country.
