The new Madhya Pradesh Environment Policy document concedes that the total forest area in the state has consistently decreased at an average rate of 473 square kilometres per annum over the last four decades. The policy was announced by the Housing and Environment Minister, Mr Kumar Patel, in the Assembly today.
