M.P. scheme to develop forestry sector

Close on the heels of ushering in a decentralised mode of governance, the Madhya Pradesh Government has embarked upon a scheme to encourage the participation of the grassroot-level of populace in the forestry sector. Experimented perhaps for the first time in country and aptly named as the Lok Vaniki project, the Vision 2020 envisages on handing back to the people management of their own forests for economic and environmental benefits, by unlocking the neglected and degraded forests on their private holdings.
