MP to involve local people in JFM activity

Madhya Pradesh plans to cover 50 per cent of the 30,000 villages situated within a 5-km periphery of forests with the Joint Forest management(JFM) activity by the turn of the century.The World Bank assisted Madhya Pradesh Forestry Project has undetaken forestry development through JFM in both closed and open (degraded) forest area. Assisted natural regeneration (ANR) has been taken up in well-wooded area to promote natural regeneration. In addition, VRDP (village Resource Development Programme) is in operation in the degraded forest areas under the MP Forestry Project.
