THE Tamil Nadu Assembly clashed over Mullaperiyar, with the main opposition, the AIADMK, accusing the Chief Minister of failing in his duty to win the state's rights over the interstate waters, even as Karunanidhi made a fervent plea for unity and support from all political parties to amicably resolve the issue. Parrying accusations from AIADMK members that he was being "secretive'' about what transpired in Delhi, Karunanidhi told the Assembly that it was wrong to conclude that the Mullaperiyar talks between him and his Kerala counterpart VS Achuthanandan had failed.
