Multi-story complex for slum dwellers

A well-equipped multi-story residential complex would be built under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission for the slum dwellers to be removed from Govindpura industrial area. The building would be constructed by Bhopal Municipal Corporation. This decision was taken at a meeting convened for redressing problems prevailing in Govindpura industrial area. The meeting was chaired by Industry Minister Malaiya. Commercial Taxes Minister Babulal Gaur and Mayor Sunil Sood were also present. Addressing the meeting, Malaiya said that immediate efforts must be undertaken to provide all the basic amenities to Govindpura industrial area's industrialists, employees and workers. Directives were given at the meeting for displacement of slums erected after encroachment on the Govindpura industrial area. The meeting also decided to seek for the concerns of slum dwellers before the commencement of displacement by Bhopal Municipal Corporation. Bhopal Municipal Corporation would construct a multi-story housing complex for the oustees under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. The meeting decided the Bhopal Municipal Corporation would ensure laying of pipelines for water supply arrangements in the industrial area under the same mission. Bhopal Municipal Corporation would collect state government's share for infrastructure construction from Urban Administration Department and carry out the work. It was also decided that Bhopal Municipal Corporation would make streetlight arrangements in Govindpura industrial area. It was decided to make available funds to the tune of Rs one crore 98 lakh to Bhopal Municipal Corporation. Since the implementation agency is being changed, therefore necessary approval should be sought in this connection with intimation to Bhopal Municipal Corporation. Places for hawkers' were also identified at the meeting. The hawkers' corners would be set up with a view to providing refreshment facilities for industrialists as well as employees and workers in Govindpura industrial area. Housing and Environment Department was asked to approve the identified places. Those present on the occasion included Principal Secretary Industries Satya Prakash, Commissioner Industries Deepak Khandekar, managing director Central Zone Power Distribution Company Sanjay Shukla, Collector Bhopal Manish Rastogi and President Association of Industries Govindpura Bhopal Rajesh Khare apart from officers of all the concerning departments.
