Taking strong exception to multiple authorities in the National Capital Region (NCR), Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday said that multiplicity of authorities was the biggest bane that thwarted development efforts. Ms Dikshit also stressed that any successful plan for sustainable development of the Capital will have to take into consideration the twin issues of urban infrastructure development and an organised and humane solution to the problem of jhuggis in the city, housing about four million people. However, Ms Dikshit stressed that the two most important authorities responsible for development in the city were not mutually antagonistic as is generally perceived and propagated by groups with vested interests.
