The UDF upheld the Chief Minister, A.K. Anthony's position rejecting the demand of the Opposition and the senior Congress leader, K Karunakaran for a judicial probe into the Muthunga action which led to the killing of two persons. Terming the action by the Adivasi Gothra Maha Sabha as an armed attack, the UDF committee, the view that the tribal problems related to redistribution of land and the armed attacks under the leadership of a minority group among, the tribals were separate issues.
