The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has prepared an infrastructure development plan for Assam with special reference to rural connectivity, water resources and power for a period of three years starting from 2005-06. An amount of Rs 3,655.99 crore and Rs 1,500 crore each has been estimated under rural connectivity and power and water resources respectively for the period 2005-06 to 2007-08. As resource crunch has been among the major constraints in the fast development of rural infrastructure, the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) was created in the NABARD in 1995-96.
