Naga encroachment, illegal activities on at Assam border

Anti-social activities of a section of Nagas have created a fear-psychosis among the people living in the A, B, C and D sectors. Encroachment along the E sector in Mariani in Assam engulfing Gabharu, Dessoi, Sonowal and Khermia has been going on unabated as the Nagas have taken over more than 15270 hectare of the three reserve forest here. More than 12 bastis have been established by the Nagas in these disputed land which are equipped with communication and electricity facilities. The activities of these Nagas range from abduction of people from the villages, killing wildlife and destroying the forest cover of the region, allege the local residents.
