The Narmada Bachao Andolan has intensified its ongoing agitation against the construction of the Rs 1500-crore Maheshwar hydel project in western Madhya Pardesh. An NBA spokesman, Mr Alok Agarwal told The Statesman that the Maheshwar project authorities have restarted construction at the dam site despite the assurance given by the Madhya Pradesh government to the NBA and people displaced by the project that no construction will begin until the project is completely reviewed.
