Narmada water reaches Ahmedabad

The Narmada waters have finally reached Ahmedabad resulting in a 70 per cent rise in the daily drinking water supply to the city, which has gone up from 50 million gallons to 85 million gallons. The water is being pumped through pipelines to the Raska wier, which in turn was connected to the city only last year at a cost of Rs.125 crore. The project was to bring the Narmada waters through the Raska wier was conceived in November last and has been completed in 120 days at a cost of Rs.43 crores.
