Narvekar accused for ugly situation on State beaches

A stinking creek; clogged drains, stray dogs and cattle loitering on the beach and complaints of tourists about the mess welcomed Tourism Minister, Mickky Pacheco to Colva beach as he conducted an inspection on Wednesday noon. The Tourism Minister, however, was quick to blame Finance Minister, Dayanand Narvekar for the ugly situation on the beaches, accusing Narvekar for literally sitting on the beach cleaning file for the last three months. An exasperated Pacheco even told Herald that he would to shell out money from his pocket to clean Colva instead of letting the foreigners return back with bad memories of the place. That the once-pristine Colva beach is fast decaying on the cleanliness front was evident when a couple of foreign tourists complained to the Tourism Minsiter that the drains and the creek smelling of foul odour. The tourists asked the Minister to take measures to stem the rot, but Pacheco maintained he had moved the file for beach cleaning three months back, but is still awaiting approval from the Finance Minister. As the Tourism Minister walked his way to the beach, accompanied by local Sarpanch Suzie, he was taken aback by the rotting creek
