The first National Forest Commisssion has been set up with the former Chief Justice, Justice B.N. Kirpal, as its Chairperson. The Commission will submit its report within two years. The seven member Commission will review and assess the existing forest policy and legal framework and their impact from the ecological, scientific, economic, social and cultural points of view.
