National Rural Livelihoods Mission in 10 districts soon

In order to ensure self help groups better livelihoods opportunities by strengthening them, the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) would be implemented in ten districts of the state that include - Mandla, Dindori, Balaghat, Shahdol, Anuppur, Sheopur, Dhar Jhabua Badwani and Aalirajpur. The NRLM would be implemented by the State Livelihoods Forum. This was informed at the general body meeting of State Livelihoods Forum held here today under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister Chouhan asked the authorities concerned to have state level monitoring of district level job fairs. He asked them to enlist active support of banks for promoting economic activities for strengthening livelihoods.
The Chief Minister reviewed the preparations for implementing the NRLM stressing the need for coordination among the line departments in view of statewide skill development progrmmes. Underlining the need for having impact assessment of livelihoods prorammes, he said that financial discipline deserves attention. He said that the delay in auditing process is akin to financial irregularity. Delay at any level would not be tolerated, he added.
Chouhan said that timely spending of budget is a pre-condition for better results. districts should be strictly monitored in respect of budget spending. He said that the producers' companies need streamlining. He said that apart from Self Help Groups, disabled persons should also be provided equal opportunities to carry out their own economic enterprise. He said that community mobilization is a major task for the accomplishment of which, participation of dedicated organizations, Jan Abhjiyan Parishad should be encouraged. Community Resource Persons also need to be increased, he added.

Parshuram, Development Commissioner Smt. Aruna Sharma, project coordinator Madhya Pradesh rural livelihoods project L.M. Belwal and senior officers of concerning departments.
