The Madhya Pradesh government's rejection of the conditional offers made by De Beers and RTZ-CRA for undertaking exploitation and exploitation of diamond reserves in the state has brought the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) , which seemed to have lost the race even before it began, back in the fray. Though the corporation was the only party, besides a consortium formed hurriedly by a leading Indian diamond cutting and polishing house, to have accepted all the conditions laid down by the Madhyr Pradeh government for undertaking the project, the odds are stacked high against it.
