People living in the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) areas now have two reasons to celebrate. Firstly, NDMC has begun work on a project that will make water available 24x7 to those living within its jurisdiction, and secondly, this will be at no extra cost. While NDMC buys water in bulk from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), it has kept control of the distribution network supplying water to over 30,000 consumers. Unlike most other areas in the capital, in NDMC areas, water supply is hardly ever a problem. On an average, around 462 litres of water is available per person each day in NDMC areas, in the eight hours that water is supplied.
