The North East Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi) has taken initiative to fund cultivation of patchouli--an oil-bearing aromatic plant with immense export potential - in Guwahti as well as the region. The NEDFi Chairman stated that the Project patchouli was part of the Corporation's plan to encourage commercial production of medicinal and aromatic plants in the north-eastern region.
