Nepal's Parliament has banned bonded labour, following up a government fiat proscribing the oppressive practice to speed up the rehabilitation of freed slaves. The government had banned the practice of bonded labour, called Kamaiya, last year by fiat. But the freed Kamaiyas have not yet been rehabilitated.
