By ensuring the passage of Karnataka Town and Country Planning Bills in the State Legislature, through which the government can now regularise building bye-law violations up to 50 per cent, it certainly does appear to be the case. This new bill is a boon to land developers and owners of commercial and residential buildings. Without raising the hackles of the Opposition parties, the State Government has ensured the safe passage of Karnataka Town and Country Planning and Other Laws (amendment) Bill, 2004 and certain other bills in the state legislature paving the way for violation of building bye-laws with December 31, 2003 as the cut off date.
