In what is likely to be seen as one of its most politically and socially significant decisions, Punjab's ruling Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatoya Janata Party coalition is set to completely revamp and restructure the state's rural cooperatives. This will be done through the enactment of a new Cooperatives Act based on recommendations made by a 10-memeber expert committee constituted by chief minister Prakash Singh Badal on April 15 .
