The NDMC is looking for a strong footing for redeveloping New Delhi in the Master Plan for Delhi 2021. New Delhi, which has been characterised as 'developed' in one Master Plan after another, has suffered because the need to "rebuild" has never been considered necessary. In a meeting with DDA vice-chairman and other senior officials on the draft Master Plan 2021, NDMC chairperson Sindhushree Khullar put forth the argument that if the Walled City and areas like Karol Bagh can be earmarked for redevelopment, then New Delhi was a deserving candidate as well.
