Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has assured the Jammu and Kashmir government that a cushion will be created to absorb the enormous costs involved in the preservation and conservation of the Dal lake. Following the assurance, the state government is now bracking for an ambitious programme involving additional funds to the tune of Rs 320 crore. The Prime Minister had already sanctioned Rs 298 crore udner his reconstruction plan to give a lease of life to the lake.
