New drive by police against haphazard parking

Stickers will be pasted on vehicles in no-parking zone. To deter motorists who park their vehicles at their whim and fancy on the arterial roads, traffic Police are trying to put a new system in place. They are pasting stickers on the window of a car or the handle bar of a bike parked haphazardly or in a no parking zones. The sticker says, “Booked for Improper Parking; You will be receiving a court summon”- Puducherry Traffic Police (North).”
Explaining the object of new drive, a police officer said, “Haphazard parking or parking in no parking area creates huge traffic snarls. As per our new plan, our traffic police personnel will paste a sticker on the vehicle and also book a case against the owner. The case will be forwarded to the court which will issue summons to the offenders.”
The new system will be strictly implemented on Jawaharlal Nehru Street, Bussy Street, Anna Salai, Kamarajar Road and Beach Road. Tourists who visit the beach are asked to park their vehicles near Old Port.
C. Maran, Inspector of Police said, “We plan to introduce pilot scheme called ‘Puducherry Safe Roads. As per the plan, two select roads will come under electronic surveillance. High-resolution closed circuit cameras will be installed on such roads and traffic personnel will monitor vehicle movement from the control rooms. ”
