New forest Bill will only help encroachers: VS

Opposition Leader V.S. Achuthanandan said that the Kerala Forest (Vesting and Management of Ecologically Fragile Lands) Bill-2001 passed by the Assembly would lead to the alienation of about 52,000 acres of forest land to encroachers. These included 25,000 acres which an Ordinance brought by the previous LDF Government proposed to take over from the encroachers and another 27,000 acres to be alienated to the encroachers as per the High Court orders, Achuthanandan told mediapersons.
