The PHD Chamber has said it would "welcome' the Delhi Government's new industrial policy when it is announced and enumerated several proposals that it wants to be a part of the finalised policy. Representatives of the Chamber said the new industrial policy would be formulated taking into account the norms of planned development included in the Master Plan for Delhi-2021. It had been revealed by the State Government that the Special Economic Zone policy for Delhi had been approved and would soon be notified. At a recent meeting to discuss the draft of the industrial policy for 2008, it was revealed that the Government also proposes to construct a hi-tech city and software park named "Knowledge Park' to provide state-of-the-art facilities to the IT sector. The "Knowledge Park' would be set up in an area of around 100 acres in South-West Delhi. . The PHD Chamber has suggested removal of restrictions on small-scale industries since these restrictions had become irrelevant as most small-scale industry items had been de-reserved by the Union Government. The Chamber has also suggested introduction of a "one-window clearance system' under the State Department of Industries to ensure timely clearance for new industries.
