JAIPUR: The public sector Jaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur power distribution companies in Rajasthan have started releasing new electricity connections in the agricultural category ahead of schedule. Waiting list The action, launched under the new agricultural policy, will clear the waiting list of consumers till December 2003. The Chairman of the three power discoms, R. G. Gupta, said here on Saturday that over 80,000 connections would be released during 2008-09. "As many as 56,927 demand notices have been issued to agricultural consumers and of them, 22,196 have deposited the advance,' he said. As many as 2,570 new connections have been released during the first two months of the current financial year. Mr. Gupta said the State Government had set the target of releasing power connections against the demand notices from July this year. The discoms started the process much ahead of schedule.
