The Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry, Japan said Thursday it has developed technology to analyze the heat island phenomenon accurately to a degree that closely reflects how people feel heat. Conventional methods can only measure the thermometric distribution in the air. The new system can predict how people feel the effects of heat in areas where buildings are concentrated and can calculate the energy-saving effects of changing the locations of the outside vents of air conditioners.
